Your personal instructions come first.
Use this page as a reminder of the guidance you received in the office. If anything here differs from the directions provided by your dentist, follow your dentist’s directions and call us with questions.
What to Expect
Tenderness and a feeling of pressure are common during the first few days of a new tray. These sensations should ease as your mouth adapts. Wear the trays on the schedule provided by your dentist and bring your current tray to every dental appointment.
- Wear aligners 20–22 hours each day, or as directed.
- Change trays only on the schedule provided by your dentist.
- Contact us if a tray cracks, no longer fits, or causes persistent irritation.
Daily Care
- Rinse aligners with lukewarm water whenever you remove them.
- Clean them morning and evening with a soft toothbrush and clear antibacterial soap or an aligner cleaner.
- Remove trays for all food and drinks except water, then brush and floss before reinserting them.
- Store trays in their case—never in a napkin—and keep them away from heat and direct sunlight.
Keep Aligners Clear and Fresh
Avoid toothpaste, bleach, alcohol, and other harsh or abrasive cleaners because they can scratch, discolor, or damage the trays. A weekly soak with an approved retainer or aligner cleaner may be used as directed.
- Do not smoke while wearing aligners.
- Do not drink coffee, tea, soda, wine, or other colored beverages while trays are in.
- Wash your hands before handling your aligners.
Call Us If
- A tray cracks, warps, no longer fits, or is lost.
- You cannot wear the aligners for the prescribed time.
- Pain, swelling, or gum irritation is persistent or worsening.
